Students themselves, for example,in high school or college won't produce writings if it is "bleed to death" and criticized so to speak. I say, let's give Citizendium a chance, and in time the contributors/stakeholders will decide how effective and needed it is as a web resource. Not always, but sometimes new ideas work well! There doesn't seem to be any major reason to start a whole new wiki--the possible exception might be a specialist wiki, but even then, I think Wikipedia may already serve that purpose.
