I felt somewhat transfixed as I viewed “The Snowman.” Reflections of my own childhood surfaced in my mind and I did’t want to let those wonderful feeling of yesterday leave. Ah, the age of innocence, make-believe, dreams, and creativity were all recaptured for me in this film. The scarf held in the hand of the boy caused me to think about holding on to dreams, and that the experience of play itself made the event a real in your mind and in the heart which remains rewarding, and an unforgettable experience in the mind of the child or any child.
I am considering having my students respond to all of the language processes of listening, speaking, writing, reading, viewing in regards to this film. In addition, I would like them to complete a sensory chart denoting those things which could be heard, felt, tasted, smelled, and seen. I do believe that my students and I could have a very good engagement in a grand conversation!
