Response to “Time’s Person of the Year: You”

The article was a heartwarming piece until you learn that Youtube (and Google) is being sued by Viacom for a billion dollars for numerous copyright ingringements, and that Wikipedia is being banned by academia in places like Middlebury College and that big companies like At&T are trying to wrest control of the internet to make metropolis’s like Myspace open to only the financially well-off in their effort to make a buck…nice try average guy but looks like the few are taking control back.  😦

  1. I think you’re reading these lawsuits correctly for the most part. My guess is that the professors who challenged Wikipedia will be seen as hopelessly old guard and that Wikipedia will gain general acceptance as a solid encyclopedia with fact checking on par with (if not better than) Britannica and other encyclopedias.

    And, yes, the Time article is incredibly self-serving for Time Warner.
