What Video TV changes …

Filed under: Uncategorized — sophiesun @ 7:41 pm

I was impressed by this week’s readings: the new form of TV–web TV or video series has been successful. I have a feeling that it is a revolutionary force in TV industry , in new media age. After reading all these articles, after watching all these vedioes, and after researching some related information, I find the influence of webTV is overwhelming: it changes something, and it will bring more changes.

To some extent, it changes the way TV industry runs, which has already turned to  Internet. The series of “The Adventure of Old Christinae“, have been put to Google video is such an example.    There are many reasons for video TV to become popular: it is short which just fits the speedy pace of our modern life; it is fun which can give our busy life kind of relaxation; it has more mobilility which makes audience have more control on what they want to see; it gives us more flexibility, which is because we can edit it and keep the part that we like best; it is more personalized — everybody can make a video; it can cater to more and more audience’s interests and as well as get inspiration from the audience like Lonely Girl 15; it helps us not waiting for the long–one after another– annoying ads… But this hurts ads industry who may find other ways to run their business…

What do think of the changes Web TV brings us? Do you find that video TV changes other areas like politics, education, popular culture etc?

  3. Janna, that’s how I discovered Jericho, a show I now watch on broadcast TV. Similarly, I follow the online stories of Jericho and Heroes online as well. It will be interesting to see how broadcasters adapt to this new model.

And, of course, there’s LG15 and other series that broadcast exclusively online.
